FOX Expands Broadcast Window for IndyCar Season Finale
Nashville, TN — FOX has announced an expanded broadcast window for the upcoming Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix, set for August 31. The telecast will now begin at 2:00 PM ET, 30 minutes earlier than the originally scheduled time, allowing for an extended celebration of the season’s championship and enhancing anticipation for a thrilling finale, as confirmed by the IndyCar Series.
As the championship battle intensifies, Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing maintains a 99-point lead over Pato O’Ward from Arrow McLaren with four races remaining. Despite Palou’s lead, O’Ward has demonstrated impressive form, winning two of the last three races.
Palou’s historical performance at the upcoming Java House Grand Prix of Monterey and the BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland is pivotal. He could potentially clinch the championship in Portland if O’Ward underperforms or secure the title by the Milwaukee Mile race on August 24.
Should the championship be decided early, the additional 30 minutes of broadcast time can be devoted to celebrating the new title holder and elucidating the remaining contests for better standings, particularly for drivers competing for the lucrative $1 million Leaders Circle contracts. The added airtime signifies FOX’s commitment to delivering comprehensive coverage of this critical juncture in the IndyCar season.
