FOX Sports Sees Significant Viewer Growth in First Season of IndyCar Coverage

Nielsen Media Research reports a marked increase in viewership for the 2025 IndyCar Series, attributed to FOX Sports’ inaugural season of broadcasting. The season averaged 1,362,000 viewers, a remarkable 27% increase from 2024, marking the series’ most-watched season in 17 years.

Key highlights include the season finale in Nashville, which attracted 1,142,000 viewers—a 136% increase from last year’s race and the highest viewing figures since 2021. Among demographic shifts, the 18-34 age group surged by 81%, while the broader 18-49 demographic saw a 51% increase. Female viewership also rose significantly, with women aged 18-34 increasing by 72% and those aged 18-49 by 30% compared to the previous year when the series aired on NBC.

The Indianapolis 500 drew impressive numbers as well, averaging 7,088,000 viewers—a 41% rise. FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “In a season loaded with both massive successes and key learnings, we couldn’t be more excited about the potential we see in the FOX IndyCar relationship.”

Looking forward, Shanks emphasized the commitment to building on this momentum, with projects already underway for the upcoming season.
