Indianapolis Motor Speedway to Release Docuseries on Turn 2 Repaving

Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) will debut a multi-part docuseries documenting the recent repaving of Turn 2 on December 8, 2023. This initiative is part of IMS’s “Behind the Bricks” program, which unveils the historical significance of the track following the removal of a troublesome bump at the exit of the 2.5-mile oval.

During the repaving process, the original brick surface and various historical layers were uncovered, providing a glimpse into the track’s rich legacy. IMS plans to release four episodes from December 8 to December 11, followed by a full-length documentary on December 12, featuring additional interviews and insights. Each episode will be accessible via IMS’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X, and YouTube.

Doug Boles, IMS and IndyCar president, remarked, “What started as a project to fix a bump in Turn 2 turned into a historic, and at times, overwhelming exploration. We uncovered aspects of this racetrack that have not seen the light of day in over 116 years. I can’t wait for our fans to see it all unfold on ‘Behind the Bricks.’”

This documentary release coincides with the anniversary of the original brick paving completion in 1909, further emphasizing the track’s storied past.
