Linus Lundqvist Poised for Return to IndyCar Amid Ongoing Search for Opportunities

Indianapolis, IN – Linus Lundqvist, the 2022 Indy NXT champion, is actively pursuing opportunities in the IndyCar Series after a challenging offseason. Following a promising rookie season with Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) in 2024, where he achieved a pole at Road America and secured two podium finishes, Lundqvist finds himself without a full-time seat as CGR reduced its lineup.

At 26, the Swedish driver remains committed to returning to IndyCar, taking a proactive approach by attending races and maintaining readiness. Lundqvist has kept discussions open with team owners while also exploring potential IMSA engagements. “I’m obviously sad to not be racing this year, but I’m doing everything I can to get back into a seat,” Lundqvist remarked. “I want to be here, and I feel like we showed that we deserve another year in the series.”

Lundqvist, based in Indianapolis, frequently attends IndyCar races, ensuring he is prepared should a sudden opportunity arise. He expressed his determination: “I’ve got my helmet in hand ready to go in case somebody were to need help." His strategy includes familiarizing himself with team dynamics and showcasing his capabilities through simulator and track testing.

While testing is tightly regulated, Lundqvist is utilizing race weekends as preparation. “I do my own pre-event preparations… going through everything that I learned last year,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of being physically and mentally ready.

Currently, Lundqvist is participating in race weekend preparations for events like the Iowa Speedway doubleheader, maintaining a professional routine despite not being in the driver’s seat. “It’s not just laying home on the couch waiting for the phone to ring,” he asserted. His dedication reflects a keen understanding of the competitive landscape and the necessity of readiness in motorsports.

With a clear focus on securing a 2024 seat, Lundqvist remains a driver to watch as he navigates his path back to racing, determined to capitalize on any opportunity that may present itself.
