David Malukas Hospitalized Following Hard Crash at Music City Grand Prix
David Malukas, driver for AJ Foyt Racing, was involved in a significant collision during the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Speedway, prompting immediate medical attention. Following the incident, Malukas was evaluated by the IndyCar Medical team on-site before being airlifted to a local hospital for precautionary assessment.
IndyCar medical director Dr. Julia Vaizer provided an update, stating, “He’s awake. He’s alert. He’s in really good spirits. We’re just sending him down to our trauma center for some precautionary evaluation.”
During the race, Malukas demonstrated strong performance, running as high as second place. The incident occurred while he attempted to overtake Louis Foster in the No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda. As they approached Turn 1, Foster’s defensive maneuvers led to contact between the vehicles, resulting in Malukas spinning and hitting the wall.
Malukas was notably slow to exit the car and was seen resting briefly on the sidepod before being attended to by medical personnel.
