Malukas Nears IndyCar Pole at Milwaukee Mile with Strong Showing

David Malukas narrowly missed his first IndyCar Series pole position, qualifying second for the Snap-on 250 at the Milwaukee Mile in the No. 4 AJ Foyt Racing Chevy. Under the guidance of race engineer James Schnabel, Malukas has quickly established himself as a formidable competitor, currently holding 10th in the championship standings.

“Our success is largely due to James Schnabel,” Malukas stated. “He transformed my performance as well as Ferrucci’s last season.” Reflecting on their collaborative progress, he noted their efforts to develop a strong rapport, significantly enhancing his understanding of the car’s needs.

Malukas showcased his qualifying strength during the 2023 season, including a seventh-place starting position at the Indianapolis 500 and several strong performances thereafter. In recent events, he has repeatedly qualified in the top tiers, highlighted by second, fourth, seventh, third, sixth, and now second at Milwaukee.

Looking back, Malukas emphasized the transformation over the season: “At the start in St. Pete, we struggled to make the top 10. Now, with multiple Fast Six appearances and consistent front-row starts, it’s evident how far we’ve come, thanks to James."

The upcoming race promises to be an exciting challenge as Malukas aims to convert his qualifying success into a strong finish.
