Marcus Ericsson to Compete in Rolex 24 At Daytona

Marcus Ericsson will make his third appearance in the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona, slated for January, driving the No. 45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the GTD class. The 2022 Indianapolis 500 champion joins previously announced teammates Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, and Graham Doyle.

Ericsson’s participation in the Daytona 24 Hours began in 2022 with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Cadillac team, followed by a stint with Wayne Taylor Racing in 2024. “I’m super excited to be back racing with Wayne Taylor Racing for the legendary Rolex 24 Hours,” Ericsson stated. “This will be my first time in the GTD class, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

The upcoming race marks Ericsson’s inaugural IMSA start in a Lamborghini GT3 car. He gained valuable experience with the Huracán GT3 EVO2 during the recent Michelin 12H Malaysia in Sepang alongside his brother, Hampus.

Formal and Hindman, who secured the No. 45 Lamborghini’s first victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July, will continue with the team for the full GTD season. Doyle will participate in the five-race Michelin Endurance Cup.

Wayne Taylor expressed enthusiasm about Ericsson joining the GTD program: “We know he will be a great addition to our lineup. We believe we have a strong shot at a podium with our experienced drivers and crew.”

TWG Motorsports CEO Dan Towriss echoed this sentiment, noting, “Moves like this reflect the potential of the TWG Motorsports portfolio in creating opportunities for Marcus to race alongside Danny, Trent, and Graham.”

As the countdown to the Rolex 24 begins, the combination of talent among these drivers positions Wayne Taylor Racing as a strong contender in this year’s endurance classic.
