Newgarden Leads Final Warmup for Sensio Grand Prix
Josef Newgarden propelled Team Penske to the top of the leaderboard in the final warmup session for the Sensio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Newgarden clocked a lap time of 1:10.5606 in his No. 2 Chevrolet, narrowly edging out Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard, who finished second with a time of 1:10.6477.
This session marked a significant improvement for Chevrolet teams after Honda drivers occupied the top three positions in Saturday’s qualifying round. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon was the fastest Honda, securing third place with a competitive time, while pole sitter Alex Palou, also from Ganassi, took fourth.
However, the session was not without its challenges. AJ Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci caused a red flag due to smoke from his No. 14 Chevrolet, and Colton Herta faced issues with a suspected shifter malfunction in his Andretti Global No. 26 Honda.
The Sensio Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM and can be viewed on FOX.
