Indianapolis, IN— Alex Palou continues to assert his dominance in the 2025 IndyCar season, securing victory in four of the first five races. His impressive performance includes a second-place finish at the Sonsio Grand Prix, emphasizing his position as a formidable contender in the series.
Driving the #10 Dallara-Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing, Palou’s current streak has garnered respect from competitors, including two-time series champion Will Power. "It’s amazing to see something like that in this field at this time," Power remarked after finishing third at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. “It’s incredibly tough to win a race in IndyCar now. Four wins and one second place in five races is impressive.”
Despite his consistent performances, Power acknowledged the challenge of overtaking Palou, stating, "You’re definitely taking a very close look at what he’s doing. I haven’t finished ahead of Palou yet this season."
Upcoming Challenge: The Indy 500
Looking ahead, all eyes turn to the 109th Indianapolis 500, where Palou will seek to translate his road and street course success to the iconic oval. Historically, Palou has shown promise at the Indy 500, with a pole position in 2023 and a second-place finish in 2021. However, he tempers expectations. "The normal thing would be not to win the Indy 500," Palou said. "Hopefully we can change it… what if we suddenly win? That would be pretty sweet."
Power, reflecting on the upcoming race, expressed doubts about Palou’s continued dominance at the Brickyard but acknowledged the significance of a potential win. "It would be one of the greatest moments in motorsports I’ve seen in my career," he noted.
As the season progresses, Palou remains focused but realistic about the challenges ahead. "The Indy 500 is a whole other ballgame. I don’t think we’re the favorites, but we’re going to give it our all," he concluded.
