MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — November 2, 2023 — In a significant engagement for the Progressive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series, eight-time champion Kailub Russell will represent AmPro Yamaha at the Japan National Cross Country (JNCC) AAGP Sand Valley Hakkenden in Kimitsu, Chiba, this weekend.
This year’s AAGP marks its 31st anniversary, originating as a standalone event before the establishment of the JNCC series, paralleling GNCC’s historical inception with events like the Blackwater 100.
Accompanying Russell will be Race Operations Manager Jared Bolton, who will oversee logistics for the AmPro Yamaha team. Russell is slated to compete in the AA1 class during the PM race. Adding to the family affair, AmPro Team Manager Randy Hawkins will enter the Fun A class in the AM race, while his son, Mitch Hawkins, competes in the B class in the PM race. In the morning race, Kailub Russell’s son, Krue Russell, will pilot a YZ85.
This entry not only showcases Russell’s commitment to cross-country racing but also strengthens the ties between the GNCC community and international motorsport events.
