Hymas Reflects on Supercross Season Ahead of AMA Pro Motocross Championship
Salt Lake City, UT – Chance Hymas of Honda HRC Progressive is shifting gears as he approaches the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship following a mixed result at the final round of the 250SX East Division. Despite a promising start to the season, where he initially contended for the championship after a victory in Foxborough, his performance in Salt Lake City saw him struggle.
In a candid assessment post-race, Hymas commented on his disappointing main event, where an unfavorable gate pick contributed to his struggles. “Practice was all right, I qualified decent. The heat race was good, but in the main, my start was horrible. I made a bad decision with gate pick; I should have gone inside,” he stated. Hymas progressed through the field until an incident with a Tuff Block sent him off track, effectively ending his night.
Reflecting on the track conditions, Hymas noted, “It was pretty dry and slick. They watered the top, but that just made it slicker. It was definitely challenging; we haven’t had a track like that this season.” He compared it to previous venues, particularly mentioning Pittsburgh, which had hard-packed surfaces but still developed ruts.
Despite this setback, Hymas remains optimistic about the upcoming outdoor season, emphasizing his focus on transitioning from supercross to motocross. "I’m really disappointed in how I rode, but I don’t really care. I’m looking forward to outdoors; I know I can go win outdoors," he concluded.
As the 2025 motocross series approaches, Hymas’s commitment to improvement and adaptation will be key as he seeks to build on his supercross experiences.
