In a recent interview, Jeffrey Herlings reflected on his transition to a new Honda motorcycle in preparation for the 2026 motocross season. Herlings described the bike as a “completely different world,” emphasizing the significant differences, particularly the switch to an aluminum frame, which he has not experienced in his seven years on previous machinery.
At 31 years old, Herlings remains optimistic about his competitive future, stating he believes he has “two, maybe three or four years” left at the top level. Currently in a strong training phase, he reported no injury setbacks, positioning him well for the season start in approximately six weeks.
When discussing his goals for 2026, Herlings affirmed, “To be world champion” is paramount. His performance in the last five rounds of 2025 gave him confidence as he won three races and finished second twice, indicating he remains a formidable contender. Herlings concluded that while he aims for top finishes, the ultimate objective is reclaiming the championship title. “I think I can do it,” he asserted.
As the season approaches, Herlings’ preparation signals his intent to return to the forefront of the sport, with eyes set firmly on the world championship.
