Deegan Clinches 250SX West Division Title, Continuing Yamaha’s Dominance
Haiden Deegan has secured the 250SX West Division Championship in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career. This victory cements Deegan’s status as a formidable competitor, having now achieved professional titles in AMA Supercross, Motocross, and the SMX World Championship—two occasions.
Deegan’s championship marks the fifth consecutive year in which a new rider has claimed the 250SX West Division title. This trend follows Dylan Ferrandis’ back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020. The success reflects the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team’s continued excellence, as this win represents their ninth overall 250SX championship since 2015, with eight of those titles stemming from the West Division alone.
Historically, 34 different riders have secured divisional 250SX titles in both the East and West divisions, indicating a balanced competitive landscape. The upcoming race in Utah will determine whether Tom Vialle can defend his 250SX East title or if challengers Seth Hammaker or RJ Hampshire will emerge as the next champions, potentially introducing a 35th distinct champion in the East.
Hampshire, the 2024 250SX West champion, is also in the hunt to join an elite group of riders—including Jett Lawrence, Grant Langston, James Stewart, and Ernesto Fonseca—who have succeeded in winning titles in both divisions.
As anticipation builds for Saturday’s race, the motorsports community eagerly awaits to see who will etch their name into 250SX history.
