Paris Supercross Recap: Lawrence Brothers Face Challenges
Paris, France – The opening night of the Paris Supercross saw a series of setbacks for the Lawrence brothers, Hunter and Jett, as they struggled to perform under challenging conditions.
In the first main event, the evening took a tumultuous turn early; Hunter Lawrence crashed in the first turn, while Jett Lawrence was taken down by Tom Vialle, making his Honda debut, after an aggressive move in the first lap. Both riders recovered to finish fourth (Hunter) and eighth (Jett), hampering their quest to reclaim the King of Paris trophy, which Jett won in 2023.
The second main event offered a glimmer of hope. Justin Stewart secured the win, with Hunter finishing second and Jett in third. The Honda HRC team managed to distance themselves from Cooper Webb, showing signs of competitiveness heading into the longer final main.
However, the third main proved disastrous for the Lawrences. Jett lost his position to Malcolm Stewart on the opening straight and subsequently crashed in the whoops, resulting in a DNF after a particularly rough night that included a fall during the Superpole contest earlier.
Hunter’s night ended abruptly as well, after a concerning endo in the whoops left him needing medical attention, raising questions about his participation in future events.
Both riders faced mechanical challenges, racing without factory motors, which contributed to their struggles. Reports indicated they encountered unfamiliar suspension issues, marking an atypical performance for the highly-regarded duo.
As the event wraps up, the focus shifts to the riders’ recovery and performance in the upcoming heats. Further updates on Hunter Lawrence’s condition and the team’s technical adjustments will be closely monitored in the following days.
