Gajser Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery, Title Hopes Shattered
Lugano, Switzerland — Honda HRC’s Tim Gajser has undergone successful surgery on his right shoulder following a serious crash at the Frauenfeld circuit on April 21. Initial diagnoses did not foresee the extent of the injury, but after unsuccessful physiotherapy attempts, surgical intervention was necessary.
Gajser entered the season in formidable form, securing podium finishes in the first six rounds, including three victories. At one point, he had built an impressive lead of nearly 50 points, positioning him as a strong contender for his sixth world title. However, this latest injury has ruled him out for several weeks, effectively ending his championship aspirations for the season.
"The focus now is on recovery," Gajser stated. "I am committed to following my medical team’s advice to ensure a full return to form."
In Gajser’s absence, Honda HRC will compete in Lugo, Spain, this weekend, with Ruben Fernandez (MXGP), Ferruccio Zanchi (MX2), and Valerio Lata (MX2) representing the team in the eighth round of the 2025 World Motocross Championship.
