San Diego Qualifier Incident: Oldenburg and Forkner Injured
In a tumultuous second qualifier at San Diego’s motocross event, both Mitchell Oldenburg and Austin Forkner were involved in separate crashes that led to red flags.
According to representatives from Liqui Moly Beta and Triumph Factory Racing, Oldenburg lost consciousness following his incident. While he sustained no spinal injuries, the full extent of his other injuries remains unclear. As a result, Oldenburg has been ruled out of the evening’s race, leaving Liqui Moly Beta without any riders following Benny Bloss’s wrist injury sustained last week.
Forkner, on the other hand, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation but has since been reported to be in stable condition. He is making efforts to return to the stadium in time for the race, although his participation is uncertain due to the timing of events.
Both incidents raise questions about rider safety and the challenges of maintaining competitive integrity amidst injuries in high-stakes environments. Further updates on their conditions are expected as the event progresses.
