Pocono Preview: NY Racing Team Faces Setbacks with Brennan Poole

The NY Racing team, participating part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, encountered significant challenges leading up to the Pocono Raceway race. After six races this season, the team, which attempted but failed to qualify for the Daytona 500, will field Brennan Poole in the No. 44 Chevrolet. This marks Poole’s first Cup race since 2023, although he runs full-time in the Xfinity Series.

Inspection Troubles

The team’s weekend was derailed during inspection, where the No. 44 car failed three attempts before finally passing on the fourth. Consequently, Poole will start from the rear of the field and will serve a pass-through penalty once the race begins. Despite this, the long straightaways at Pocono could enable him to remain on the lead lap.

In addition, the team’s car chief has been ejected from the event and has lost pit selection privileges, compounding the challenges faced this weekend.

Other Notable Entries

In related developments, Josh Berry’s No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford will not participate in qualifying due to a broken rear diffuser. Cody Ware also will be absent from the lineup after crashing the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Ford during practice.

As the race unfolds, technological and personnel setbacks will test the mettle of NY Racing’s limited resources against a competitive field.
