B.J. McLeod Secures Truck Series Opportunity with Spire Motorsports at Charlotte
B.J. McLeod, a seasoned competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, is set to make a significant return to the Truck Series, driving the No. 07 Spire Chevrolet Silverado at Charlotte next weekend. This opportunity marks a pivotal moment for McLeod, who has spent over a decade in underfunded equipment, accumulating 146 Cup starts with a best finish of seventh at Daytona in 2022.
As both driver and owner of Live Fast Motorsports, McLeod sold his Cup charter to Spire Motorsports for approximately $40 million, allowing him to shift to a limited racing schedule in both the Cup and Xfinity Series. This new arrangement represents his first venture into competitive equipment in years.
McLeod brings a history of 41 Truck Series starts, achieving a best finish of 15th, although he hasn’t raced in the Truck Series since 2021. The upcoming race will also feature ‘Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster’ as the primary sponsor, aligning with McLeod’s latest business endeavor.
“I’m honored to race in the NASCAR Truck Series with such an incredible team,” McLeod stated. “This partnership with Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster combines speed, adrenaline, and excitement. We’re ready to put on a show for the fans."
Spire Motorsports has gained momentum in the Truck Series following its acquisition of Kyle Busch Motorsports’ operations. The No. 07 truck has already triumphed this season at Homestead-Miami with Kyle Larson and recently secured a 1-2 finish at Kansas, driven by Carson Hocevar and William Byron.
McLeod’s debut in the No. 07 is eagerly anticipated as he aims to leverage Spire’s competitive edge to deliver a strong performance at Charlotte.
