Keselowski Leads All-Star Weekend Amid Calls for Track Changes

Brad Keselowski secured pole position for the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro and triumphed in his heat race, setting the stage for a potential $1 million victory on Sunday. Following his heat win, Keselowski addressed the media about the track’s future, advocating for it to become a points-paying venue once again.

“I think this needs to be a points racetrack,” Keselowski stated during the press conference. North Wilkesboro, which returned to the Cup Series for the All-Star event in 2023, last hosted a points race in 1996. It holds significant historical importance, being a part of the inaugural Cup season in 1949.

Keselowski suggested the All-Star Race should return to Charlotte Motor Speedway, where it was contested annually from 1987 to 2019. He emphasized the need for Charlotte to host more events: “That’s my personal opinion. I think the Charlotte racetrack, particularly since it only has one race on the oval, is a miss for our sport.”

Critically, he expressed dissatisfaction with the current Roval configuration, which features both the oval and an infield road course. “I see more fans at the oval race and better ratings. I’m very strong about the Roval has got to go,” Keselowski asserted, countering the idea that the Roval has produced memorable moments.

With the All-Star Race approaching, Keselowski’s insights on track venues highlight significant discussions within NASCAR regarding event formats and race locations, reflecting broader sentiments among competitors and fans alike.
