Hocevar and Preece Encounter Frustration at Texas Motor Speedway
In a race marred by misfortune, both Carson Hocevar and Ryan Preece experienced disappointing outcomes at Texas Motor Speedway, despite promising starts. Hocevar, who secured his first career pole position, and Preece, who advanced steadily through the field, faced setbacks due to a late caution involving Jesse Love.
As the race neared its conclusion, a caution period struck during green-flag pit stops, adversely affecting both drivers. Hocevar, having pitted earlier, fell a lap down, while Preece was unable to rejoin the track in time, resulting in both drivers entering the final stages of the race from compromised positions.
Their day took a turn for the worse on Lap 238. Exiting Turn 2, Hocevar lost control, inadvertently colliding with Preece, which triggered a multi-car incident. Preece expressed frustration post-race: "He just seems to be proving me right over and over again… Just got ran into the fence by somebody that has no respect for his equipment or anybody else’s."
Hocevar finished the race in 24th place, while Preece was classified 29th due to a DNF. Following the event, Hocevar reported a productive conversation with Preece, aiming to clarify the incident and move forward. "I explained my positioning… I wasn’t trying to put him in a bad spot; expectations were just different," Hocevar stated.
This incident is not the first altercation between the two; Preece had previously voiced his frustrations after a similar encounter in the 2022 NASCAR Truck Series at Charlotte. As both drivers navigate their respective seasons, the implications of this rivalry will warrant attention in upcoming races.
