Dale Earnhardt Jr. Steps In as Crew Chief for Connor Zilisch at Pocono Raceway
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will take on the role of crew chief for JR Motorsports driver Connor Zilisch at Pocono Raceway this weekend. Earnhardt is stepping in for Marty Lindley, who is serving a one-race suspension due to a penalty involving unsecured lug nuts on the No. 88 team following the Nashville Superspeedway event.
This marks Earnhardt’s inaugural stint as a crew chief in a NASCAR national series race. Currently, Zilisch sits fifth in the Xfinity Series standings, boasting one victory at Circuit of The Americas and six top-10 finishes. JR Motorsports fields a competitive lineup in the Xfinity Series, including drivers Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, and Carson Kvapil.
Amid this transition, Earnhardt will also continue his role with Prime Video during the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday. This weekend’s event will conclude Prime Video’s five-week broadcasting schedule, after which TNT Sports will take over beginning with the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 28.
Earnhardt’s dual involvement underscores his versatility within the sport, transitioning from a championship-winning driver to a key strategic position on race day.
