Ty Gibbs Secures $1 Million Prize in NASCAR Tournament Finale

Indianapolis, IN – Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing clinched the $1 million prize in the NASCAR in-season tournament following a subdued finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Despite finishing 21st in the Brickyard 400, Gibbs earned the top prize through consistent performance in the preceding rounds of the tournament.

Gibbs, who qualified fifth for the race, faced limited competition from Ty Dillon of Kaulig Racing, who fell out of contention after sustaining damage in a multiple-car incident during a restart, ultimately placing 28th. Having secured the tournament win, Gibbs announced plans to donate $10,000 to a charity of Dillon’s choice.

“This is great. One million dollars is a lot of money,” Gibbs commented. “Thank you to TNT and NASCAR for this opportunity. It’s awesome to win it.”

The five-week tournament commenced at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, where Gibbs, seeded sixth, advanced past Justin Haley after finishing 14th compared to Haley’s 23rd. The second round took place on the streets of Chicago, where Gibbs secured a second-place finish, defeating Dillon’s teammate AJ Allmendinger, who finished sixth.

At Sonoma Raceway in the third round, Gibbs maintained his momentum against Front Row Motorsports’ Zane Smith, finishing seventh while Smith placed 27th. The semifinal at Dover saw Gibbs battle teammate Tyler Reddick, narrowly winning with a fifth-place finish against Reddick’s 12th.

Reflecting on his final race, Gibbs noted, “We had a fast SAIA Toyota Camry; didn’t end up where we wanted to in the end. We just lost track position and had to play it a little bit safe.”

This victory marks a significant achievement for Gibbs and cements his status within the NASCAR ranks as a competitive force.
