Harrison Burton Set to Compete in 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race

Harrison Burton, 24, will make his long-awaited return to the NASCAR Cup Series in the 2025 All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, driving the No. 51 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing (RWR). Burton, who has participated in 109 points-paying races but has not raced in the Cup Series this season, qualified for the All-Star event due to his surprising victory at Daytona last summer.

Team Dynamics and Race Details

Burton’s entry marks a historic moment for RWR, which will participate in the All-Star Race for the first time. Team owner Rick Ware emphasized the significance of this opportunity: “It’s an honor to have a place in the main event, and we’re just as proud to provide Harrison the opportunity to compete… He definitely earned his spot.”

Cody Ware, the usual driver of the No. 51, will instead compete in the Open, a preliminary event featuring 18 drivers, for a chance to qualify for the All-Star Race.

Burton’s Journey and Outlook

Burton’s Cup journey faced challenges after being released by Wood Brothers Racing in favor of Josh Berry. However, his unexpected Daytona win not only secured his playoff spot but also marked the 100th victory for the Wood Brothers team. This All-Star Race will be Burton’s first, as he previously attempted to qualify through the Open three times without success.

Reflecting on his upcoming participation, Burton stated, “The All-Star Race is one of those events you grow up dreaming about… Winning at Daytona last year was a huge moment in my career, and I’m thankful to Rick and the entire RWR team.”

Currently, Burton competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for AM Racing, where he has achieved one top-five and six top-ten finishes in the first 12 races, placing him tenth in the overall standings. His momentum from the Xfinity Series is expected to fuel his performance at the All-Star event.

As Burton prepares for this milestone, the All-Star Race promises to showcase his resilience and potential against the sport’s elite.
