Berry Shines Amid CARS Tour Spotlight at North Wilkesboro
North Wilkesboro, NC — Josh Berry, fresh off his maiden Cup Series victory earlier this year at Las Vegas, stepped into the spotlight once again during the CARS Late Model Tour’s Window World 100 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. With a storied history in the tour, including a 2017 championship and a record 22 wins, Berry underscored the significance of the event, which received live broadcast coverage on FOX Sports 1.
“It’s really cool to get them on FS1,” Berry stated. “The racing is good, and I hope tonight draws a good audience.”
However, the opening laps of the race did not start smoothly. A massive multi-car pileup on Lap 2 involving 15 vehicles marred the initial excitement. Once the chaos subsided, the race settled into a competitive rhythm, culminating in Landen Lewis claiming victory.
Berry Voices Concerns Over ARCA’s Quality
In a media session post-race, Berry did not hold back his criticism of the ARCA series. He expressed dissatisfaction with the series’ race quality compared to the CARS Tour.
"I’ll be honest, I watch ARCA races and they’re horrible. CARS Tour puts a way better product on to be on TV," he remarked. "The series is obviously really competitive—more than when I was a part of it."
Berry’s comments ignited discussions among fans and competitors, some taking issue with his disparaging remarks about ARCA while advocating for the CARS Tour. He has limited experience in the ARCA series, participating in two races in 2018 and 2022.
The CARS Tour event featured an impressive 36 cars, with 15 finishing on the lead lap, indicating a tight and competitive field. In contrast, the recent ARCA race at Kansas saw only 26 cars start, with many failing to complete the event.
Berry emphasized the need for the CARS Tour to continue gaining visibility in the motorsports community, hoping that more coverage will elevate the series’ profile and showcase its quality racing.
Looking Ahead
With growing interest and enhanced visibility, the CARS Late Model Tour aims to solidify its reputation within the hierarchy of stock car racing. As Berry noted, the future of the series appears promising if it continues to attract a dedicated audience and maintain its high competitive standards.
