William Byron Secures Four-Year Extension with Hendrick Motorsports

CONCORD, NC – Hendrick Motorsports has officially confirmed a four-year contract extension with driver William Byron, ensuring his place with the team through the 2029 NASCAR Cup Series season. This announcement solidifies Byron’s status among the team’s core drivers as they head into the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Byron, 27, made his Cup Series debut in 2018 and has since achieved notable success, tallying 14 race wins, 111 top-ten finishes, and 15 pole positions. He has qualified for the Cup Series Playoffs every year since 2019 and advanced to the Championship 4 in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Rick Hendrick described Byron as "the real deal," citing his combination of natural talent and a relentless work ethic. "What makes him so special is that he combines natural ability with an unrivaled work ethic. You see it in the great ones – the drivers who could get by on talent alone but choose to outwork everyone anyway. That’s William," Hendrick stated.

Kenny Wallace, a former NASCAR driver, added light-hearted commentary on Twitter regarding Byron’s extension, stating, “@WilliamByron has checked all the boxes… Plus, he’s very vanilla and that fits the @TeamHendrick motto.”

As the NASCAR Cup Series prepares for the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25, Byron currently sits second in the championship standings, trailing leader Kyle Larson by 35 points.

The 600-mile race will begin at 6 p.m. ET and can be followed live on Prime Video, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
