Logano Earns Pole Position for Mobil 1 301 at New Hampshire
Joey Logano, the reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, will start at the front of the pack at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Mobil 1 301. Logano secured the pole position with a lap time of 29.159 seconds, averaging 130.622 mph. This marks his second pole of the season and his first at the New Hampshire track, where he previously claimed his inaugural Cup Series victory.
Logano credited his team, saying, “I’ve got a great group of guys. Paul [Wolfe] knows how to help me get the car good, and the guys do a great job getting the Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang fast. It’s my home track; it feels so good to run well here. We’ve got a good starting spot, and obviously the playoffs matter the most right now. Hopefully, we’re able to capitalize on it tomorrow.”
Ryan Blaney qualified second, making it an all-Team Penske front row with a lap time of 29.236 seconds (129.865 mph). Josh Berry will start third (129.754 mph), followed by Tyler Reddick in fourth (129.745 mph) and William Byron in fifth (129.670 mph).
The remainder of the top ten saw Carson Hocevar (sixth, 129.560 mph), Alex Bowman (seventh, 129.542 mph), Ross Chastain (eighth, 129.529 mph), Denny Hamlin (ninth, 129.511 mph), and Shane van Gisbergen (tenth, 129.511 mph).
Among other playoff contenders, Bubba Wallace qualified 14th, Kyle Larson 16th, Chase Briscoe 18th, and Christopher Bell, the defending race winner, in 19th. Austin Cindric had a promising start thwarted by a slip in Turn 4, resulting in a 22nd place qualifying effort. Chase Elliott was the slowest qualifying playoff driver, positioned 27th.
The Mobil 1 301 is set to take the green flag at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.
