NASCAR Cup Series at the Coca-Cola 600: Entry List and Key Insights
For the first time since the season-opening Daytona 500, NASCAR will feature 40 entries in the Cup Series for the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day Weekend. This includes the standard 36 chartered teams plus four open entries, marking a significant milestone for the event.
Notable Entries
Among the open entries, seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson will drive the No. 84 Toyota for Legacy Motor Club, celebrating his 700th career start. Johnson has four previous victories at the Coca-Cola 600, positioning him as a contender on this historic occasion.
Trackhouse Racing is set to expand with rising star Connor Zilisch stepping into the No. 87 Chevrolet. This will be Zilisch’s second Cup Series appearance, and notably, his first on an oval track after missing the previous Xfinity race at Kansas due to a back injury. He has since been cleared to participate.
Additionally, Garage 66, formerly known as MBM Motorsports, will field the No. 66 Ford Mustang with driver Josh Bilicki. The NY Racing Team will enter the No. 44 Chevrolet, with J.J. Yeley expected to take the wheel, although his participation has yet to be officially confirmed.
Xfinity and Truck Series Entries
The NASCAR Xfinity Series also boasts 40 entries, featuring Cup stars William Byron, Austin Dillon, and Chase Briscoe. Notable newcomer Katherine Legge will participate, opting for this race over the Indy 500 to gain valuable stock car experience.
In the NASCAR Truck Series, there are 34 entries for the weekend, culminating in a combined total of 114 across all three national divisions. Full-time Cup drivers Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain are confirmed participants, while B.J. McLeod will join the field after securing a deal with Spire Motorsport.
This year’s Coca-Cola 600 promises to deliver competitive racing and notable storylines as teams and drivers prepare for the longest race of the season.
