Kyle Busch Partners with Andy Street as Crew Chief Change Looms
Kyle Busch will be paired with Andy Street for the remaining five races of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, following a significant shake-up in his team’s leadership structure. The future of the crew chief position remains uncertain as the season approaches its conclusion.
Team owner Richard Childress has moved Randall Burnett off Busch’s No. 8 team, with Burnett set to join Trackhouse Racing next year to work alongside rookie Connor Zilisch. Burnett and Busch collaborated in 2023, achieving three victories, but the duo has struggled since, failing to secure wins and missing the postseason in 2024 and 2025.
Busch acknowledged the need for change, emphasizing the performance-based nature of the sport. “We’re not getting the results, and results are what matter,” he stated. “It’s got to fall back on someone.” Despite the season’s challenges, he remains contractually committed to Childress through 2026, indicating ongoing support from the team.
Looking ahead, Busch will have a say in future crew assignments. “It’s not that I don’t want any input,” he clarified, “but time is of the essence because people are probably getting their deals done right now.”
Currently sitting 21st in the championship standings, Busch has recorded eight top-10 finishes this season, a notably low figure for a driver of his caliber. “I want to be part of a winning team, and we’re working toward that,” he added, indicating his determination to reverse the current trajectory.
As the Charlotte Roval race approaches, the implications of these changes could be pivotal for Busch and the Richard Childress Racing organization.
