Reddick Takes Pole at Charlotte Roval Ahead of Crucial Playoff Race
Charlotte, NC – Tyler Reddick secured the pole position for the Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte Roval, clocking a lap time of 85.939 seconds, with an average speed of 95.510 mph. This marks Reddick’s second pole at Charlotte and the 11th of his career, as he navigates a critical moment in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, starting 29 points below the cutline.
In a post-qualifying statement, Reddick expressed pride in his team’s performance under challenging conditions. “This has been a track that we’ve been pretty strong at, and the tire is a lot different, obviously, as we saw today… I’ll try and keep Shane (van Gisbergen) behind me,” he said, looking ahead to the race.
Shane van Gisbergen, who aims for his fifth victory in six road course starts this season, qualified second with a speed of 95.474 mph. Ty Gibbs secured third (95.265 mph), followed by Kyle Larson, the defending champion at Charlotte, in fourth (95.103 mph), and Chris Buescher in fifth (94.912 mph).
A notable aspect of the qualifying session was the performance of several playoff drivers, with seven qualifying outside the top 10. Ryan Blaney placed 11th, Bubba Wallace 12th, William Byron 13th, Denny Hamlin 14th, and Chase Elliott 15th—both Blaney and Elliott are already assured spots in the next playoff round. Joey Logano and Austin Cindric recorded disappointing qualifying efforts, finishing 17th and 19th, respectively.
The race will commence at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, a decisive event as the playoff field gets narrowed once more.
