Report: Richard Childress Racing (RCR) solidified its 2026 driver lineup, announcing that Kyle Busch will continue to pilot the No. 8 Chevrolet following his decision to exercise a contract option. Austin Dillon will maintain his role in the No. 3 Chevrolet.

Team owner Richard Childress expressed enthusiasm about the renewal, noting, "Kyle has been great to work with. Everybody had questions going in…we want to win races." Childress highlighted Busch’s competitive spirit and bullish outlook towards securing a championship with RCR.

Although Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion with over 200 career wins, has not seen victory lane in nearly 70 races—the longest winless streak of his career—he remains optimistic about breaking the drought. "It has been a little bit humbling…I’m excited for the next win," he stated.

Busch’s partnership with RCR began in 2023, where he initially achieved three victories. However, 2024 marked a disappointing campaign as he did not qualify for the playoffs. Analyzing their strategy, Childress admitted, "I felt like we let (Kyle) down some last year by not winning a race," but he assured that adjustments are in place to enhance performance.

At 40 years old, Busch, the most seasoned driver in the Cup Series with over 700 starts, dismisses retirement plans, looking instead to potentially race alongside his young son in the future. "I don’t have any immediate plans of slowing down," he confirmed.

RCR’s commitment to technical development appears paramount as they refine their engineering efforts. Childress remarked on the evolution of NASCAR’s race car design, signifying a commitment to adapting to the increasingly engineer-driven landscape of the series.

With renewed focus and optimism, both Busch and Childress are poised to reclaim their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
