Ryan Blaney Showcases Late-Race Pace at Kansas
Kansas City, KS – Ryan Blaney executed a strong performance in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas, finishing third in a thrilling contest dominated by Kyle Larson. The reigning champion displayed his signature long-run speed, nearly overtaking Larson and Christopher Bell in the final laps of the event.
Entering the race with momentum from consecutive victories by teammates Austin Cindric and Joey Logano, Team Penske aimed for a third straight win. Blaney, who had fallen back to fifth position five seconds behind Larson with just 20 laps remaining, capitalized on his car’s performance as the race progressed.
As the laps wound down, Blaney’s pace proved unmatched, clocking some of the fastest times among the front runners. “I think five more laps, I probably would have scared the #5 [Larson] a little bit at least,” Blaney remarked, demonstrating both confidence and a hint of frustration at the missed opportunity.
Despite the strong finish, Blaney remains winless in the season, although he has secured four top-five finishes in the last five races. His consistent speed positions him as a formidable competitor in upcoming events.
“We were running those guys down quickly at the end,” he noted. “I just kind of restarted too far back and had to make up a lot of ground. Proud of the crew for bringing fast race cars.”
Blaney’s performance at Kansas further solidifies his status as a top contender, keeping him on the radar as the season progresses.
