Keselowski Faces Critical Countdown as NASCAR Playoffs Approach

Richmond Raceway, VA — Brad Keselowski confronts a pressing challenge ahead of the NASCAR Cup Series postseason. With only two races left in the regular season and currently ranked 19th in the standings, the driver of the No. 6 car must secure a victory to qualify for the playoffs. This marks a significant turnaround for Keselowski, who was as low as 32nd earlier this year.

“Being in the playoffs is a statement,” Keselowski remarked prior to the race at Richmond. “It’s a statement that you’re a good driver and you’re with a good team and a good company. That’s what we want.”

Keselowski’s RFK Racing teammate, Chris Buescher, currently holds the final playoff spot, just 34 points ahead of Ryan Preece, who qualified on the pole as the first driver below the cutline. The urgency is palpable; both drivers are keenly aware that their playoff aspirations hinge on their performance in the upcoming races.

Last season, Keselowski was the only RFK Racing driver to qualify for the playoffs, thanks to a win at Darlington Raceway—his sole victory since becoming a co-owner of the team. However, he has not secured a win since, and acknowledges the pressure.

“It’s not a fun place to live,” said Keselowski. “You want to go out and win and not have to worry about it. We had a couple of shots to do that that slipped through our fingers, which was kind of disappointing. We need to capitalize on that opportunity when it comes.”

With formidable competition from fellow teams, particularly the fast Childress and Gibbs cars at Richmond, his path will be anything but easy. As the clock ticks down, Keselowski will need to deliver an impressive performance to keep his postseason hopes alive.
