Van Gisbergen Takes Pole for NASCAR All-Star Open
On a unique qualifying weekend for the NASCAR All-Star Race, Shane van Gisbergen secured the pole position for the All-Star Open with an impressive performance. The Trackhouse Racing driver clocked the fastest time during a qualifying session that combines track speed with a four-tire pit stop on his second lap. His total qualifying time highlighted not only his driving skills but also the efficiency of his pit crew.
"I think we finally got all the things right," van Gisbergen reflected. "Qualifying has been a weakness, and I was pleased with both my lap and the pit stop. I appreciate the support from WeatherTech and the Trackhouse pit crew."
This marks an important milestone for van Gisbergen, who, prior to this, recorded his best start on an oval at Talladega Superspeedway in 17th. He will be joined on the front row by Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar, also a contender for the Fan Vote, which will allow one more driver to join the main event.
The qualifying results saw Noah Gragson take third, followed by Michael McDowell in fourth and Ryan Preece in fifth. The top ten was completed by Zane Smith, Justin Haley, John Hunter Nemechek, Ty Gibbs, and Ty Dillon.
As the All-Star Race weekend continues, all eyes will be on the strategies that unfold during the main event, particularly for drivers like van Gisbergen as they navigate their first competitive experience on an oval.
