Ligier European Series Season Finale Set for Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

The 2026 Ligier European Series season concludes at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, with the final round scheduled for October 8-9. A total of 24 entries will compete, consisting of 16 Ligier JS P4s and 8 JS2 Rs.

Championship Dynamics

While VSF Sports has clinched the Ligier JS2 R title, the battle for the Ligier JS P4 championship remains fierce. Team Virage’s Alex Gardner and Simon Schranz lead with 149 points, closely followed by ANS Motorsport’s Ethan Pharamond and Mika Abrahams at 143 points. A double victory for ANS would secure them the title, though achieving this feat has not yet occurred in the JS P4 class this season. Notably, only three race winners have successfully podiumed in both races of a meeting this year.

M Racing’s August Therbo is another contender, albeit 39 points behind with 50 points available. Despite not having won this year, Therbo’s consistency has seen him finish in the top four in all of his last seven races.

The Pro-Am and Am championships in JS P4 have already been claimed. Bretton Racing’s Marius Kristiansen and Dominique Bastien lead Pro-Am on 150 points, while Les Deux Arbres’ #50 has secured the Am title with 100 points.

JS2 R Title Battle

In the JS2 R category, the focus shifts to the runner-up spot, with VSF Sports’ dominant #41 Ligier having already secured the championship. Maxime Aparicio and Anthony Ghibaudo hold second place with 94 points, but face stiff competition, as just 19 points separate them from seven other contenders.

Notable competitors include 23Events Racing’s Marcus Terkildsen and LR Motorsport’s Noah Rosser, both on 91 points, alongside additional challengers from Trajectus Motorsports.

The JS2 R Pro-Am title race intensifies between the #84 Trajectus Motorsport and #18 VSF Sports Ligiers, with the Tabery duo leading on 183 points, just fifteen points ahead of Aparicio and Ghibaudo.

Race Schedule and Broadcast

Track activities commence on Thursday, October 8, with the first practice session at 9:00 WEST, followed by qualifying sessions and the concluding races on Friday starting at 9:00 and 14:00 WEST. Both races will be streamed live on the championship’s digital platforms.

As the season draws to a close, the competition is poised to deliver high-stakes racing, especially in the JS P4 division, as contenders vie for championship glory in Portimão.
