Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Announces Four Entries for FIA GT World Cup
Macau, November 2026 – Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific has confirmed a formidable lineup of four Porsche 911 GT3 Rs (992.2) for the upcoming FIA GT World Cup, set to take place at the Guia Circuit in Macau from November 19-22. The vehicles will be run by Absolute Racing and will feature Porsche factory drivers Laurin Heinrich and Thomas Preining, alongside contracted drivers Alessio Picariello and Dorian Boccolacci.
Team Composition and Strategy
Heinrich, who achieved a commendable third-place finish in last year’s event, is particularly eager to compete again. “I’m excited to return to Macau; the podium last year fueled my ambition for victory,” he stated. Heinrich will make his debut with AO Racing under the #8 banner, having enjoyed recent success at the Suzuka 1000KM. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race Rexy on the streets of Macau,” he added, referencing the team’s competitive car.
Preining returns after missing the 2025 race and expressed confidence in securing a robust performance. “I’m excited to race with Porsche in Macau for the third time, aiming to extend a successful season,” Preining noted.
Picariello and Preining will represent Tempo by Absolute Racing, the same team with which Picariello finished third in last year’s Qualification Race. “I’m proud to represent Tempo by Absolute Racing once again; our podium finish last year makes me eager for the challenge ahead,” Picariello remarked.
Boccolacci will race under the Absolute Racing banner for his second consecutive year, having previously competed with Phantom Global Racing. “I learned a lot last year and aim to build on that experience for a strong showing,” he commented.
Technical Insights and Expectations
The Porsche entries will compete against previously confirmed Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II by Earl Bamber. Absolute Racing’s director, Fabien Fior, emphasized the team’s readiness, stating, “With four competitive entries, we aim for success at a very special event.”
Alexandre Gibot, managing director of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific, expressed optimism about their prospects. “All four drivers have experience on the Guia Circuit, and coupled with a robust technical infrastructure, we aim to contend for victory,” he affirmed.
Conclusion
As Porsche Motorsport seeks its first victory in the FIA GT World Cup, the combination of seasoned drivers and strategic partnerships positions the team as a strong contender at the illustrious Macau Grand Prix. The eyes of the motorsports world will be on this prestigious race next month.
