Cetilar Racing Shifts Focus to Asian Le Mans Series
Cetilar Racing is set to intensify its efforts in the Asian Le Mans Series this winter, aiming for the overall title and a coveted automatic invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. Team owner Roberto Lacorte will drive the AF Corse-supported ORECA 07 Gibson alongside Ferrari factory Hypercar driver Antonio Fuoco and reigning ELMS LMP2 champion Charles Milesi, who secured his title with VDS Panis Racing last weekend.
During recent post-season testing at the Portimão circuit, all three drivers participated as part of a crowded field of nearly 30 cars following an intense Rookie Test session.
Lacorte reiterated the team’s original plan to enter the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in 2026 after four seasons in IMSA’s GTD. “We would have liked to come to the ELMS, but AF Corse already has a customer in LMP2, and the demand for spots is significant,” he stated. “Instead, we are concentrating on the Asian Le Mans, where we hope to win the championship and secure a spot at Le Mans.”
Milesi’s impressive résumé includes a WEC title and a Le Mans class victory in LMP2 in 2021 before transitioning to Alpine’s Hypercar program. Fuoco, returning to LMP2 for the first time since the Rolex 24 Hours in 2021, has been an integral part of the team’s IMSA GTD efforts.
The Asian Le Mans Series kicks off at Sepang, Malaysia, in early December with two four-hour races, followed by a double-header at Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina in February. This strategic pivot positions Cetilar Racing robustly within the competitive landscape, aiming to capitalize on their skilled driver lineup for success in the upcoming season.
