Dario Franchitti Returns to Motorsport with Team Parker Racing at 24H Dubai
Three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Dario Franchitti will mark his return to competitive motorsport as part of Team Parker Racing’s driver lineup for the 2026 24H Dubai race, scheduled from January 16 to 18, 2026. This event serves as the concluding round of the 2025/26 24H Series Middle East Trophy.
Franchitti, who stepped back from professional racing following a career-ending accident at the 2013 IndyCar Series event in Houston, will join a formidable team comprising 2012 World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff and father-and-son duo Shaun and Max Lynn. They will pilot the #31 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO.
The Scotsman brings substantial experience in sportscar racing, having previously competed in the Grand-Am Rolex Sportscar Series and the American Le Mans Series, most notably securing an overall victory at the 2008 24 Hours of Daytona with Chip Ganassi Racing. Notably, this will be Franchitti’s first race in contemporary GT machinery, having previously only driven prototypes.
Since his retirement, Franchitti has engaged in historic racing, participating in events such as Goodwood and the Spa Six Hours. His co-drivers have been regulars for Team Parker Racing over the past two seasons, which previously utilized a Bentley Continental GT3 before transitioning to the Mercedes-AMG.
Additionally, the livery of the AMG GT3 EVO has been designed by 1997 Le Mans winner Stefan Johansson, adding a touch of prestige to the team’s effort.
This year’s 24H Dubai promises competitive action and a notable comeback for one of the sport’s icons.
