Genesis Magma Racing Announces Driver Line-Up for WEC 2026 Debut
Genesis Magma Racing has officially confirmed French driver Mathys Jaubert and Spaniard Daniel Juncadella as part of its driver roster for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This announcement follows their recent success, achieving their third victory of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season at Silverstone.
Both drivers will be piloting the Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001 Hypercar alongside established factory drivers André Lotterer and Pipo Derani, who were named to the team in late 2025. The rapid promotion of Jaubert and Juncadella underscores the effectiveness of the Genesis Magma Trajectory Programme, which identifies emerging talent for top-level sportscar racing.
Jaubert and Juncadella, who only transitioned to prototype racing this year, have quickly made a mark by securing wins with IDEC Sport at Barcelona, Le Castellet, and Silverstone. Currently, they sit second in the ELMS standings ahead of the season finale.
Cyril Abiteboul, team principal, stated, “The target for the Trajectory Programme was always to support drivers and give them the opportunity to prove they could step up to our WEC line-up. That we are already in a position where we can bring Mathys and Dani in for 2026 is a massive credit to them.”
Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini emphasized the team’s strategic balance of youth and experience, noting that the newcomers’ limited experience in prototype racing would be counteracted by the seasoned drivers in their lineup.
Testing for the GMR-001 Hypercar will commence later this year, with the first competitive outing set for the WEC season opener in Qatar. Juncadella remarked, “It fits perfectly… starting from scratch with a brand that aims to be here for many years makes it even more special.”
Jaubert expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity: “For me, it’s a big step… I’m looking forward to continuing that progression in Hypercar.”
While the addition of Jaubert and Juncadella is confirmed, the 2026 plans for fellow Trajectory Programme driver Jamie Chadwick remain to be announced. Genesis Magma Racing is poised to finalize its full driver lineup soon and is expected to utilize four full-time drivers and two additional part-time factory drivers for endurance races.
Further details, including confirmation of Jaubert and Juncadella’s program, will be released as the team prepares for its inaugural season in the WEC.
