Ford Mustang GT3 Set for Bathurst 12 Hour Debut in 2026
Mount Panorama, Australia – Haupt Racing Team (HRT), a partner of Ford Racing, will debut the Ford Mustang GT3 at the 2026 Bathurst 12 Hour, solidifying its commitment to international motorsports and expanding its GT efforts with the iconic brand.
In 2025, HRT achieved notable success with the Mustang GT3 across various European series, including the DTM, ADAC GT, Nürburgring 24 Hours, and NLS, securing multiple wins and claiming its first global title in ADAC GT.
At the Bathurst event, HRT will compete under the HRT Ford Racing banner against a strong field of world-class competitors. This participation marks a pivotal moment in revitalizing the longstanding Ford versus General Motors rivalry within Australian touring car racing.
Alex Allmandinger, Ford Racing’s global sports car manager, emphasized the significance of this endeavor: “Competing on ‘The Mountain’ provides a new perspective on our dedication to international motorsports, especially in our 125th year of racing.” He noted that Ford has a rich history in Australian racing, including recent achievements in the Bathurst 1000.
Allmandinger also announced plans for further involvement in the Australian racing scene, stating, “In addition to the Bathurst 12 Hour, we will introduce the Dark Horse R and a single-make Mustang Cup series.”
Specific details regarding the driver lineup and additional program information will be disclosed as the event date approaches.
Ford Racing’s expansion in Australia underscores its strategic commitment to motorsports, with the Mustang at the forefront of its global racing narrative.
