Iron Lynx Announces New Driver Line-Up for Le Mans and WEC Season
Iron Lynx revealed a significant driver change for the #60 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 EVO, set to compete in the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans and the remainder of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. British drivers Andrew Gilbert and Lorcan Hanafin, along with Spain’s Fran Rueda, will make their debut for the team, replacing Claudio Schiavoni, who is sidelined due to a back injury.
The transition comes after Schiavoni’s withdrawal from the #60 Mercedes-AMG, which he had to vacate following his absence since the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Le Castellet. He is expected to miss the next WEC event in São Paulo. In light of his situation, co-drivers Matteo Cressoni and Matteo Cairoli will also step away to ensure a consistent line-up moving forward.
Andrea Piccini, Team Principal and CEO of Iron Lynx, expressed optimism about the new driver trio: “We are looking forward to working with them at Le Mans. I think they will integrate quickly with the team. Stability is crucial for a solid season finish and for our preparations for 2026.”
All three new drivers have previously competed on the Circuit de la Sarthe in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and are currently active in the European Le Mans Series LMGT3 category.
Gilbert, a Bronze driver who has raced this season with Kessel Racing, remarked, “It has always been my dream to race at Le Mans. I am super excited to join Iron Lynx for this iconic event and the WEC season.” His co-driver Rueda echoed this sentiment, stating, “Joining Iron Lynx is a dream come true. I am ready to give it my all.”
Hanafin, who has already raced with Iron Lynx this season, added, “I am incredibly honoured to be joining the team for Le Mans and the WEC. We aim to build on our progress this year.”
This strategic move positions Iron Lynx strongly ahead of the critical challenges posed at Le Mans and beyond, as they seek to solidify their standings in the championship.
