2025 24 Hours of Spa: Superpole Highlights and Penalties
Superpole Results:
Marvin Kirchhöfer has secured McLaren’s first-ever pole position at the 2025 24 Hours of Spa with a blistering lap time of 2:15.113 in the #59 Garage 59 McLaren GT3 Evo. Kirchhöfer’s performance, the fastest of the Superpole session, surpassed the previous benchmark set by Jules Gounon, who finished in second place with a time of 2:15.527 in the #17 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed AMG GT3 Evo.
Dries Vanthoor took third position in the #31 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 Evo, although he is currently under investigation for a potential breach of Superpole procedure.
Maxime Martin and Alessio Rovera rounded out the top five, driving the #9 Boutsen VDS Mercedes-AMG and #51 AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors Ferrari 296 GT3, respectively. Gold Cup pole was claimed by Joel Sturm in the #92 Herberth Motorsport Porsche, who qualified ninth overall.
Penalties:
The #31 Team WRT BMW and #63 GRT – Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini have both been assessed time penalties for missing their designated pit exit times by over five seconds. As a result, they’ve dropped to 14th and 19th positions, respectively.
Session Dynamics:
The Superpole session was briefly interrupted by a red flag due to Henrique Chaves’ crash while driving the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin, which sustained significant damage. Fortunately, Chaves was unharmed, but it remains uncertain if the team can make repairs in time for the race.

The 2025 24 Hours of Spa will commence at 16:30 CEST on 28th June, representing a critical round in the GT World Challenge Europe series.
