Asian Le Mans Cup Set to Launch Amidst Growing Interest
The Asian Le Mans Series has officially announced its full-season entry list, shifting focus to the debut of the Asian Le Mans Cup for the 2026/27 season. This new support series aims to attract LMP3 participants and GT3 teams seeking competitive racing opportunities.
Key highlights include a double-header format featuring two-hour races at prominent venues such as Paul Ricard, Jerez, and Portimão. Significant incentives exist for GT3 teams: the top three finishers in the Cup will secure entries into the prestigious 2027/28 Asian Le Mans Series.
Demand for the Cup appears balanced, with a projected grid comprising approximately 50% LMP3 and 50% GT3 entries, estimated to reach the mid-20s in total participants.
Colin Ong, Event Manager for the Asian Le Mans Series, noted, “It’s new so there are a lot of questions but things are going pretty well. We aren’t looking for a massive grid but we’d like a healthy number for what is effectively a ‘proof of concept’ season.”
The deadline for full-season entries has been extended to accommodate team preparations during the ongoing ELMS season finale at Portimão. Full entry details will follow shortly as teams finalize their line-ups amidst the testing opportunities available.
