Michelin to Debut New Pilot Sport Cup LMP3 Tire in 2026 Prototype Winter Series
PORTIMÃO, Portugal – Michelin has announced the European debut of its new Pilot Sport Cup tire for LMP3 vehicles during the upcoming 2026 Prototype Winter Series, set to commence at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from January 15-18, 2026. This initiative aligns with the introduction of third-generation LMP3 cars under the current regulations.
The new tire has undergone significant development, offering enhanced stability, durability, and improved car balance compared to its predecessor. It will be used in both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup next season.
Robin Selbach, Managing Director at GEDLICH Racing, expressed gratitude toward partners at the ACO and Michelin, stating, “We are thankful to our partners… for allowing us to offer the most relevant conditions possible for our 2026 Prototype Winter Series competitors.”
The debut will coincide with GEDLICH’s four-round Prototype Winter Series, marking an exciting evolution in the series that will also showcase V6-powered LMP3 vehicles from manufacturers including Ligier, Duqueine, Adess, and Ginetta.
Teams will have the opportunity to test the new Pilot Sport Cup tires at the winter Race Test program in December, which will span five days across tracks in Barcelona and Portimão, providing key preparatory sessions ahead of the series.
This development positions Michelin as a pivotal player in enhancing the competitive environment of LMP3 racing in Europe, enhancing both performance and safety for participating teams.
