Racers Edge Motorsports Transitions Leadership as Founder Retires
Austin, TX – Racers Edge Motorsports marks a new chapter following the retirement of founder Jon Mirachi, who stepped down after 35 years at the helm. Under his leadership, Racers Edge secured over 100 victories and 12 championships across multiple series, including GT World Challenge America and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Jim Pattin has been appointed as the new Team Manager, transitioning from his previous role as Chief Engineer. Pattin has been integral to the team’s success, notably leading the Acura NSX GT3 program. Mirachi expressed confidence in Pattin, stating, “Jim has the knowledge and skill set to lead Racers Edge Motorsports to continued success.”
Pattin stated, “It is a privilege to take on the role of Team Manager and to build on the foundation that Jon Mirachi has established.” Mirachi will remain with the organization in an advisory capacity.
SRO Partners with University of Texas for Motorsport Education Program
SRO Motorsports Group has unveiled a collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin to launch ‘GT RACEXEC,’ a business education series aimed at future leaders in motorsport. The program kicked off at Circuit of the Americas, featuring guest lecturers from Archangel Motorsports and Dollahite Racing.
SRO America President Greg Gill noted the significance of the initiative: “We are proud to collaborate with the University of Texas on this project. Our focus is on constant improvements to ensure that our industry continues to move forward.”
Participants will gain practical insights while earning a Certificate of Business Excellence upon completion.
RWE Motorsport Claims Victory at Sonoma Makeup Race
In the delayed ‘Sonoma Race 2,’ RWE Motorsport’s James Li and Casey Dennis triumphed in their #74 McLaren Artura Trophy Evo. Starting from pole, Li held off competition from GMG Racing’s John Capestro-Dubets to secure victory by two seconds.
The race featured a brief rain shower resulting in a crash by Stephen Sorbaro. Competitors faced challenges as wet track conditions caught some teams off-guard after switching to wet tires.
James Sofronas of GMG Racing finished third overall and won the Am class, while Colin Harrison and others rounded out the top five.
Practice Session Results from GT America Powered by AWS
During GT America practice sessions at COTA, Blake McDonald led the SRO3 field in the #11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette with the fastest morning time. Elias Sabo set the pace in the afternoon in the #80 Flying Lizard BMW.
The top contenders also included Memo Gidley, Ross Chouest, and Kyle Washington, signifying a competitive weekend ahead with 14 entries.
The #39 Van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 was the fastest in its class throughout both sessions.
