NASCAR Cup Series Qualifying: Briscoe Claims Pole in Kansas
Chase Briscoe secured his seventh pole of the NASCAR Cup Series season at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, clocking a speed of 180.078 mph (29.987 seconds) to surpass his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Denny Hamlin. This marks Briscoe’s ninth career pole and his first season with multiple poles.
Denny Hamlin qualified second at 179.474 mph, followed closely by Kyle Larson in third at 179.396 mph. Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five, qualifying fourth and fifth with speeds of 179.063 mph and 179.015 mph, respectively.
Notable qualifiers included Carson Hocevar (sixth, 178.642 mph), Bubba Wallace (seventh, 178.371 mph), and Ty Gibbs (eighth, 178.283 mph). Ross Chastain, the defending winner at Kansas, qualified ninth at 178.265 mph, with Erik Jones completing the top ten at 178.136 mph.
William Byron qualified 11th and Tyler Reddick 12th, while Austin Cindric faced challenges, qualifying 26th. Joey Logano could only manage 35th. Ryan Blaney was the only driver unable to complete a qualifying lap due to a crash in practice caused by a blown tire, prompting his Team Penske crew to prepare a backup car for Sunday’s race.
