Byron Eyes Victory at Las Vegas in Round of 8
As the NASCAR Cup Series moves to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first race of the Round of 8, William Byron emphasizes a focused, one-race-at-a-time approach. “From my experience in this round, you never want to feel like you’re going to have another chance,” Byron stated, underscoring the critical nature of the Las Vegas race.
Historically, a victory at Las Vegas guarantees a spot in the Championship 4, making it a pivotal race in the postseason. For Byron and his Hendrick Motorsports team, this race carries significant weight, especially given the subsequent events at Talladega and Martinsville.
“It’s very important to capitalize on every opportunity,” Byron reiterated. “You don’t want to have any regrets that you left something on the table.” His team enters the race with a renewed determination after a challenging first round that saw them finish no better than 11th in three races.
Byron, who was the regular season champion and entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed, managed two top-10 finishes in the second round, despite a rocky start. The team is now focused on maximizing performance. “If we don’t have a good enough car to win, let’s make sure we do what we need to do to have an easy advancement,” he said. Byron’s team has built a crucial notebook of insights over the past weeks, which they believe will pay dividends in this next challenge.
Currently in the final transfer spot by a mere four points, Byron is confident. “We’re right in the position to capitalize like the other seven guys are… We’ve done exactly what we needed to do to advance, and now is when it really counts.” The focus for Byron and his crew remains steadfast as they prepare to deliver their best effort in Las Vegas.
