Honda HRC Unveils New MX2 Line-Up for 2027 Season
Honda HRC has officially announced its new MX2 team lineup for the 2027 season, featuring two promising talents: French rider Maxime Grau and Czech competitor Julius Mikula. Both riders, aged 20, bring distinct backgrounds and aspirations as they aim to make a significant impact in the championship.
Maxime Grau, who finished 11th in the 2026 MX2 standings, demonstrated formidable speed on the European EMX250 circuit, achieving four podiums before injuries hampered his progress. His performance with Maddii Racing in early 2026 highlighted his capability on the Honda CRF250R and ultimately secured his position in the Honda HRC setup. Grau expressed enthusiasm about this new opportunity, stating, “Riding for Honda HRC is an amazing opportunity… I want to keep this momentum going, and I’m really excited to race for Honda HRC!”
Julius Mikula had a breakout season in 2026, finishing ninth overall, with his best result being a fourth-place finish in Trentino. His strong starts and riding style have helped him capture attention in the MX2 class. Mikula, transitioning to the Honda CRF250 for the first time, emphasized the importance of adapting quickly to ensure competitive performance as the season opener approaches on February 27-28, 2027.
The riders will participate in several warm-up races before the championship begins, joining the CRF450RW duo of Tom Vialle and reigning MXGP champion Jeffrey Herlings, who are also preparing for the upcoming 20-round season.
This revamped lineup aims to strengthen Honda HRC’s presence in the MX2 category as they seek to reclaim championship glory.
