Justin Cooper Reflects on Resilience and Future Goals Ahead of 2027 Supercross Championship
In a recent interview, Justin Cooper opened up about the pressures of a decade-long career in SuperMotocross, acknowledging the toll of racing both physically and mentally. “As much racing as we do, we race way too much,” he stated, expressing relief after a brief hiatus due to injury. Cooper emphasized the challenge of full seasons, indicating, “It takes a lot out of you. I knew that I needed the break. I feel really refreshed now and motivated.”
Before his injury at Hangtown, Cooper had been demonstrating strong performances, particularly in the Supercross season where he found his rhythm mid-season. “Supercross was a really good season. We got some main event wins in the Triple Crown, and that was obviously huge for me,” he said, highlighting essential moments in his competitive resurgence.
Looking ahead to the 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, Cooper is focused on consistency and preparation. “I’m doing everything that I can to keep things on plan,” he noted, stressing the importance of a methodical approach to training. “You don’t want to peak too early…the goal is to get better every year.”
Cooper reiterated his longstanding partnership with Yamaha, emphasizing a harmonious relationship with both the bike and the team. “I’ve been with Yamaha for 10 years now… It’s been going great,” he concluded, with a commitment to building on past successes as he gears up for the upcoming season.
