Preece and Logano Disqualified at Talladega Superspeedway
In a dramatic turn of events at Talladega Superspeedway during the Jack Link’s 500, both Ryan Preece and Joey Logano have been disqualified following post-race inspections.
Preece, who had finished the race in second place, just 0.022 seconds behind winner Austin Cindric, was disqualified for violating NASCAR’s technical regulations. His No. 60 RFK Racing Ford Mustang was found to have three shims on the spoiler, exceeding the allowed two shims as stipulated in section 14.5.8.F of the NASCAR Rule Book. This disqualification dropped Preece to 38th in the official results.
Logano, who crossed the finish line in fifth, was also penalized for a similar infraction. His No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang lacked a required bolt in the spoiler area, violating sections 14.5.8.E and 14.1.P of the NASCAR regulations. Consequently, Logano was relegated to 39th place, the lowest position in the race.
This setback prevents both drivers from securing critical points as the season progresses, with the implications of these penalties likely resonating through upcoming events.
