Aston Martin Faces Procedural Breach in Cost Cap Submissions
Aston Martin has entered into an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) with the FIA following a procedural breach in its submission for the 2024 cost cap. This development comes as teams await final certifications for their financial disclosures, with the FIA yet to announce certificates for the current assessment period.
The delay arises from Aston Martin’s inability to submit signed accounts by the deadline due to unforeseen circumstances. The team’s accounts were submitted without auditor signatures, though the final documents were received after the deadline.
The FIA is aware of the situation and has shown support for Aston Martin’s position; however, the breach will still be officially recorded in the ABA. In addition, suggestions of cost cap violations by another team last season remain unsubstantiated, with the FIA declining to comment on specific submissions.
An FIA spokesperson confirmed, “The FIA’s Cost Cap Administration is in the process of finalizing the review of the 2024 submissions from teams and power unit manufacturers. The results will be communicated shortly, but we do not comment on individual submissions.”
No final outcomes are anticipated during the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix weekend, with expectations that the review process will be completed prior to the next race in Brazil.
